The Lord's supper As a family we meet around the Lord's Table weekly at the Unite service. We believe that the man, woman and church who have great emphasis on the Lord's Supper will be and will continue to be Christ centered. The loving request of our Lord to do this was twice repeated. 'Do this in remembrance of me.' Frequency does not diminish freshness, if we come with the right attitude and heart we can partake as often as we like and be built up in out faith and love for Him and be renewed in this covenant meal with the Lord
Water Baptism
In Acts 2:38 Peter said; ‘Repent and let everyone of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is God’s command for every believer. Baptism is a funeral service, yet it also is a resurrection to the newness of life in the mind of Jesus. ‘For I am crucified with Christ, it is no longer I that live but Christ who lives in me, and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me’. Gal.2v20.
Spirit Baptism Be filled with the spirit is a command not a request. The disciples received the Holy spirit in John 20v21: "And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit" Here is being born again. Later however, in Acts 1v4 Jesus commands the same disciples to wait...'for you shall be baptised with the Holy Spirit with the Holy spirit not many days from now'. Here is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and it is necessary for it will give us power not just to obey but also to display the power of the Kingdom of God, which is within us. |
