We are offering someone from Ahoghill, Ballymena North, Ballymena South, Cullybackey, Galgorm and from Ballymoney the chance to spend £4000 on a community project of their choice. All you need to do is be part of this years winning team in Its a Knockout Challenge 2012.
The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is the grand prize in the Green Pastures It’s a Knockout Challenge, which the church plans to run in early July during its annual iThrive Week outreach programme. The event itself looks set to be one of the wildest and most ambitious family fun nights that the borough has seen. Graham Fisher’s It’s a Knockout – a professional firm from England with 25 years’ of experience – has been booked to run the entire programme. They have staged events for many International Charities and even Richard Branson.
The overall winner on that night will earn the right to sit on a panel that will decide just how the £5000 community prize will be spent – and they get to be involved in delivering that project too. But that’s only part of the plan. The It’s a Knockout Challenge is all about community engagement and so GP has organised local qualifying events in each of its five Streetreach regions - Cullybackey, Galgorm, Ahoghill, Dunclug and Ballymoney. These fun, family events which will run throughout May and June will be mini versions of the wet and wild finale event on July 7 – and if you’re up for winning a £5000 boost for your community, then this is where you need to start. Each event will be a great night out for all the family with plenty to keep you entertained - so come out and support your community and have some laughs along the way! Booking your place at a regional heat couldn’t be simpler. Just put together a team - comprising eight people - all of whom should be 16-years-old or over. A small deposit of £40 will be required and each of the teams will be asked to outline briefly the community concept or scheme on which they would like to see the prize fund spent. Needless to say, suggestions which are considered to be sectarian and/or divisive will not be considered. The heats are open to everyone and messy, fun-packed nights are guaranteed at every venue. The winning team and the runners-up at each local heat will go through to the big finale at GP on July 7. |
